ABOUT

CinemAbruzzo Kids & Teens aims to engage students in a journey of discovery through cinema, focusing on critical analysis and training, the production of short films, exploring the local area through film, and delving into social issues through screenings and discussions. The goal is to stimulate creativity, develop critical thinking skills, promote knowledge of the local area, and raise awareness among young people about environmental protection and combating social marginalization.

Project goals and actions

“CinemAbruzzo Kids & Teens” (CAKT) is a cultural and educational initiative based in the heart of the Marsica region, with the aim of extending its creative influence to children and teenagers throughout the area. In collaboration with Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano, the Garofano Rosso Film Festival, and CinemAbruzzo Campus, the project serves as a bridge between art and education, offering a comprehensive and engaging educational program.

CinemAbruzzo Frames – chemistry & AI

The theoretical approach focuses on the critical ability to interpret cinematic language. The program aims to stimulate creativity and raise awareness of crucial social issues by exploring the diverse narrative modes offered by cinema. Through the analysis of iconic scenes, the design of storyboards, and the writing of reviews—incorporating the guided use of Artificial Intelligence—students are given the opportunity to leverage this technology to draft critical texts that will then be published on the international distribution platform Red Couch Pictures.

CinemAbruzzo Lab – concept & display

Students are involved in every stage of producing a short film. This hands-on experience guides them from conception to distribution, fostering collaboration and highlighting their diverse skills. The workshops focus on inclusivity and collaboration among students, creating a supportive environment where they can work together to produce a short film that reflects their ideas and aspirations.

CinemAbruzzo Forum – images & words

It focuses on screenings of works related to environmental awareness and issues of marginalization (gender equality, inclusion, and combating violence). Students participate in discussion sessions and create multimedia video content, linking audiovisual materials to their academic subjects and developing an informed approach to current issues. Through the students’ perspectives, new initiatives will be implemented within the festivals of the CinemAbruzzo network, with the goal of educating new generations of viewers.

CinemAbruzzo Camp – marketing & nature

Through “Cinescursioni”—cultural walks to the locations where cinematic masterpieces were filmed in the Abruzzo region—students can immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of cinema, learn about their local area, and gather
stories to write “locally sourced” screenplays as part of the CinemAbruzzo Campus. Conveying the message that cinema can be made even while remaining in one’s own local context becomes an important vehicle for addressing the current depopulation of inland Apennine areas through a process of role modeling and, for example, regional marketing initiatives for the development of immersive audiovisual content.
