Why did you choose to work in film industry?

It’s a shape-shifting work environment, with all the arts involved, in which individuality matters as much as teamwork and practicality matters as much as intuition and artistry; in time I’ve found out it was the perfect way to express my feelings and thoughts, to let my creativity take a concrete form. It gives meaning to my life experiences: every time I travel, meet people, think and dream I feel like it is for a higher purpose, to collect meanings and images for my next story.

“I think, this, is the most sublime of lives.”

How do you approach environmental sustainability?

I live in a house in the countryside, surrounded by nature and farm animals. I always thought the people living here cared for nature but my perspective shifted when, one day, a friend of mine who’s a beekeeper, while looking at crops growing in fields, told me these were ”green deserts” suspended in an endless cycle of exploitation. When looking at environmental issues, I always try to look at the big picture, from an anthropological and social point of view. In 2020 I had the opportunity to work with my beekeeper friend and together we made ”Ichor” a short movie about bees, living in a fable kingdom, ruled by a distant god, the beekeeper, trapped in a cycle of exploitation. I believe we need to look at environmental issues as results of our societal habits, that we need to change. I like to ask myself why things happen, and I noticed that sometimes distant choices in our world are connected with problems close to us in an unforeseen way. Sometimes it happens that someone invents salad in plastic bags, and it all goes wrong.
