The “Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano” project stems from the need to promote a critical reflection on environmental issues, linked to waste, climate change and sustainable development, through the immediacy of cinematographic language.

Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano proposes a film festival divided into several days, alternating between a competition for short films and one for feature films, with dozens and dozens of international films focused on sustainability.
Combining art with environmental education means rethinking the way to involve society in the sustenance of the planet’s resources, our first home. The artistic metaphor is intended as a formidable tool to understand that the relationship between Us and the Earth can be re-evaluated every single day.
Cinema becomes the tool to foster a dialogue on integration, social inclusion and hospitality. The use of culture as a function of preventing and combating social unrest is now an established fact on which there is an increasingly consistent literature ..
Environmental education is a means of contributing to the affirmation of citizens who are active, aware and responsible both from a scientific-cultural point of view and from an ethical-legislative point of view.

Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano provides a series of initiatives designed to stimulate the consciences of citizens residing in degraded and culturally isolated areas, in order to create a common goal to be achieved by acting together.
The theme of the sixth edition of Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano is the Anthropocene: the word, composed of the Greek terms “man” and “recent”, was proposed to indicate the current geological age, where the natural environment is strongly conditioned by the effects of anthropogenic activity. The 2022 edition will be accompanied by a series of thematic talks, entitled Cinema and Environment Green Experience. The goal is to cultivate and increase the awareness of new generations – of authors, producers and viewers – on environmental issues through panel meetings between the audiovisual industry that will deal with environmental issues present in Italy.
The more precarious the relationship between society and the environment, the more fragile the social relationships. To overcome this gap, we want to create an emotional and creative involvement in order to empower and involve citizens, of all backgrounds and all ages, towards love for their land.
